Berhampur: Launching a crackdown on illegal money circulation in the district, Berhampur Police raided a hotel here last night and arrested at least 4 gamblers.
Police have not disclosed the identity of the held persons.
Acting upon a tip-off on a gambling den which was running discreetly inside the hotel, a team of Berhampur police raided it late in the night. During the raid, cops found the accused busy in illegal money transaction and took them into custody.
Police also seized Rs 66,000 from the possession of the held accused.
Interrogation of the held persons is underway to elicit more information on the flourishing gambling activity in and around Berhampur, said police.
