Mahakalpada: The Kendrapara police arrested private finance company employee Swagat Samal for faking his own kidnapping to embezzle over Rs 2 lakh.
On Wednesday, Swagat went missing at Pattamundai under Mahakalapada block in Kendrapara district around 7 pm while on his way back to office after collecting Rs 2.65 lakh.
His motorcycle and sandals were found near Dak Bungalow under Tantiapal Marine police limits. He had received a call from his family around 6.45 pm but it was found switched off thereafter.
Later, his family has lodged a complaint with Tantiapal police.
The Kendrapara SP informed that Rs1.23 lakh has been recovered from his possession.
