Elephant attack in Bonai of Odisha, houses and crop destroyed

Two tusked elephants have been running rampant in the forest range of Sundergarh district for a few days, said reports on Tuesday.

Bonai: There has been an elephant attack in Bonai area of Sundargarh district in Odisha on Tuesday said reliable reports in this regard.

The elephants have broken into the village. Destroyed the house, ate the grain and rice. Two tusked elephants have been running rampant in the forest range of Sundergarh district for a few days. Yesterday, the tusker broke into Jakeikala village and demolished two houses.

The villagers got enraged and detained the local ranger. Since the past few days, these two tuskers have been harassing the villages of Barita, Jakeikala, Badaposh, Gogua, Bhangdihi and Baghapali.

People of the village are panicking. The forest department is continuing its efforts to drive out the two. They hide in the forest during the day and break into the village at night.
