Keonjhar records today’s highest temperature till 2.30 PM, IMD issues Red alert for severe heat for 8 districts

Bhubaneswar: Keonjhar recorded today’s highest temperature till 2.30 PM as it sizzled at 43 degree Celsius, informed the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the IMD, Keonjhar was followed by Jharsuguda where mercury rose to 42.8 degrees while Sambalpur recorded a temperature of 42.6°C by 2.30 PM. Likewise, Hirakud boiled at 41.8 °C, Rourkela at 41.8°C and Balasore at 41.4 degree Celsius temperature.

The residents of the State Capital City Bhubaneswar witnessed a maximum temperature of 41.3 degrees till afternoon today.

Meanwhile, the weather department has issued red alert for heatwave to severe heatwave condition very likely to prevail in the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul, Cuttack and Nayagarh for today.

IMD also issued an orange warning for heatwave for the districts of Khurda, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Nuapada, Sundergarh and Jharsugada.

Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Bargarh, Rayagada, Koraput and Puri districts also have been sounded a yellow warning for hot and humid weather condition for today.

However, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kalahandi, Balangir and Puri, predicted the weather department.
