Ayodhya temple inauguration: World’s largest earthen lamp to be lighted in Rourkela!

Odisha’s Steel City Rourkela is all set to join the entire country to celebrate the inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Temple on 22 January 2024. 

Rourkela: Odisha’s Steel City Rourkela is all set to join the entire country to celebrate the inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Temple on 22 January 2024. Smile Forever Foundation, an organization of the city, has decided to make world’s largest earthen lamp and light it up continuously for 45 days.

As claimed by the organization, the earthen lamp is of 12-feet width and 5.5 feet height and has a capacity of holding 6500 litres of ghee.

Artisans from the State and outside have started making of the lamp by using bamboo, straw and clay since January 6. A special wick for the diya is being prepared in Cuttack.

According to founder of Smile Foundation, Santosh Biswal, the largest earthen lamp will be taken on a procession along with national flag across the City on January 21. Later, it will be placed at the Shree Hanuman Vatika and lighted on January 22 to observe the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla’s idol.
