Siddaramaiah named as next Karnataka CM by Congress

Siddaramaiah is likely to take the oath of Karnataka's Chief Minister on May 20, according to the sources.

New-Delhi: The Congress high command has named senior leader Siddaramaiah as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka and D.K. Shivakumar as his deputy.

This comes after three days of a tussle as Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar both were adamant on CM’s post.

The official announcement will be made on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting which is to be held in Bengaluru.

Siddaramaiah is likely to take the oath of Karnataka’s Chief Minister on May 20. The supporters of Siddaramaiah have already started celebrating in Bengaluru by pouring milk on his poster.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi met both Sidddaramaiah and Shivakumar at Sonia Gandhi’s residence.

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal visited party MP Sonia Gandhi’s 10 Janpath residence in Delhi.

The results of Karnataka assembly polls were declared on Saturday (May 13)  and the MLA’s authorisied Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge to take the decision on who can become the next CM of Karnataka.
