Narcotics unit seize banned drug worth Rs 9 crore in Telangana

Telangana: In recent news, the Drugs Control Administration of Telangana busted an illegal drug manufacturing unit. Banned drug worth Rs 8.99 crore were seized from the unit located in Sangareddy district of Telangana.

In a joint operation with the Prohibition and Excise Department in Telangana, the drug officials seized the banned drugs. 90.48 kg of 3-methylmethcathinone or Metaphedrone was seized from the PSN Medicare Pvt Ltd at IDA Bollaram during the raid.

Reports from official sources mentioned that metaphedrone was being manufactured in the unit. From there, the drugs were being exported to Europe in huge quantities. Notably, the metaphedrone or the 3-MMC is recreationally used by people who cannot stay away from drugs. During the sudden raid at the unit, officials discovered the illegal drugs being referred to under code names. They found the 3-MMC being stocked under the code name of “YLV01.”

It was found that the illegal drug was being manufactured at the location without any records or production data. “YLV01” powder weighing about 90.46 kg was recovered from the site.

As a part of initial investigation, receipts of orders from the PSN Medicare Private Ltd Director Kasthur Reddy Nemallapudi were verified. It was found that sale transactions were carried out by multiple foreign countries. It is noteworthy mentioning that the drug has been listed under the 1985 Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
