Ministry of Education and AICTE launches Smart India Hackathon 2023

New Delhi: In a significant step towards promoting innovation and teamwork, the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) have launched the sixth edition of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2023. This event continues to showcase the growing culture of innovation in India’s education sector.

The Smart India Hackathon has emerged as a remarkable platform that brings together the creativity of India’s young minds with real-world challenges faced by various government departments. With over 7500 innovation institutes across the country, SIH serves as a breeding ground for unconventional solutions and fresh perspectives.

Since its inception in 2017, the Smart India Hackathon has achieved significant milestones. It has become a global model for hackathons and innovation frameworks, reflecting its dynamic evolution over time. The range of themes addressed by this hackathon showcases its diversity, covering fields from agriculture and healthcare technology to transportation and beyond.

The Smart India Hackathon is the result of joint efforts by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). This event presents 239 problem statements, including 182 software challenges and 57 hardware challenges. The participation of 26 central ministries, 6 state ministries, and 4 industry partners underscores the comprehensive approach to tackling multifaceted challenges through innovative teamwork.

SIH 2023 covers a wide thematic spectrum, addressing various societal needs. Themes range from agriculture, food, and rural development to blockchain and cybersecurity, clean and green technology to disaster management, and fitness and sports to heritage and culture.
