Karnataka toddler in borewell: Rescued after 20-hour operation

Karnataka: After 20 hours of rescue operation, NDRF and SDRF teams have succeeded in rescuing a 1.5-year-old child who fell into an open borewell in the Lachyan village of Indi taluk of the Vijayapura district.

The infant identified as Satvik Satish Mujagond, who was trapped at a depth of 16-feet inside the borewell, was brought out safely.

The child was immediately shifted to the ambulance which was stationed at the spot with a medical team.

According to the police, the child fell into the borewell when he was playing outside his house. The matter came to light when someone heard the child cry and immediately informed the family.

The rescue operations began around 6.30 pm. Police teams, revenue officials, members of taluk panchayat and officials from the fire and emergency services department were present at the spot.

The boy was estimated to be stuck at a depth of around 16 feet, he said. “No voice can be heard as of now but some movement has been noticed inside the borewell, he said.
