Bengaluru: A senior government official working for the Karnataka state administration was tragically murdered at her residence in Bengaluru on Saturday night, according to police reports. The victim, identified as Pratima, held the position of Deputy Director within the Mines and Geology Department of Karnataka and was found brutally stabbed to death at her home in Subramanyapora.

The 45-year-old Pratima was last seen alive when her driver dropped her off at her residence, where she had been living for over eight years. The horrifying incident occurred around 8:30 pm, during a period when her husband and son were away in Thirthahalli, located in the Shivamogga district.

The discovery of Pratima’s lifeless body was made by her brother, who arrived at her home early Sunday morning. Concerned as she had not responded to phone calls the previous night and that morning, her brother immediately contacted the police for assistance.

DCP Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad of the South Division, Bengaluru City, provided a statement regarding the incident, saying, “As usual, around 8 pm on Saturday, Pratima returned home. As she did not respond to phone calls the previous night and this morning, her elder brother came to her house to check when he found out about her murder and informed the police.”

The Karnataka police have initiated a thorough investigation, with forensic and technical teams on the scene. Three separate teams have been formed to scrutinize the incident further, and more details will be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
