3 sisters killed by father in Jalandhar, stuffed in trunk!

A migrant labourer and his wife killed their three daughters due to poverty and hid them in a trunk at their home in Jalandhar’s Muqsudan.

Jalandhar: In a heartbreaking incident, a migrant labourer and his wife killed their three daughters due to poverty and hid them in a trunk at their home in Jalandhar’s Muqsudan locality on Sunday.

The victims, three girls aged between nine and four years, were identified as Amrita Kumari (9), Shakti Kumari (7), and Kanchan Kumari (4). Their parents reported them missing on Sunday, which led to a search of their house. Shockingly, the bodies of the girls were discovered hidden in a trunk at their home.

The parents, Sushil Mandal and Meenu, both daily-wage workers, were subsequently arrested by police. An investigation revealed that the couple had allegedly mixed pesticides into the girls’ milk on Sunday morning, resulting in their tragic deaths. The parents then placed their lifeless bodies in the trunk.

The couple has a total of five children, including the three girls. After placing the bodies of their daughters in the box, they took their young siblings, a two-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl, with them to work.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, said that the parents had contacted the police at 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, reporting that their daughters, who had been playing in the street, had not returned home and were missing.

A search operation was initiated in the neighbourhood, with the police collecting statements from the parents and neighbours. However, inconsistencies in the parents’ accounts and a review of CCTV footage led the police to doubt their story.

“The police team became suspicious and found discrepancies in the parents’ statements. We reviewed CCTV footage of the area, which showed that the victims did not leave their house. Therefore, we decided to search the house on Monday morning and tragically found the bodies in the trunk,” explained Bhullar. He added that no visible signs of injury were observed on the bodies.

During questioning, the parents allegedly confessed to taking the lives of their three daughters, citing financial struggles as the motive. They claimed to have given the girls poisoned milk on Sunday morning and fabricated the story of their disappearance to mislead the police.
