Sensex down 300 points, Nifty around 19,550 on Monday

BSE benchmark Sensex dropped over 300 points to open at 65,520.07, while the Nifty 50 has opened around 19,550 mark with 142.25 points.

New Delhi: The equity benchmark indices opened at a loss on Monday. BSE benchmark Sensex dropped over 300 points to open at 65,520.07, while the Nifty 50 has opened around 19,550 mark with 142.25 points down, or 0.72 per cent at 19,511.25.

Metal, Finance, and Bank leading the drag, while IT stocks remain stable.

BSE Midcap and smallcap indices slipped 1 percent each. Among sectors, except IT, all other indices are trading in the red with capital goods, power, realty, oil & gas and PSU Bank down 1-2 percent.

The top gainers on Monday were TCS, HCLTech, Dr Reddys, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Divis Lab, Wipro, Bajaj Auto, and Eicher Motors. While, Adani Ports, BPCL, Adani Enterprises, SBI, Asian Paints, Titan, Tata Steel, HDFC Life, JSW Steel, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, and Power Grid were the top losing stocks in the morning session.
