Sensex climbs over 600 points, Nifty tops 19,600 post a day’s holiday

The BSE Sensex climbed around 600 points or approximately 1 percent to trade at 65,523.43, while, the NSE Nifty was at 19,628.20. 

New Delhi: Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty open on a positive note after a day’s holiday on Wednesday. The BSE Sensex climbed around 600 points or approximately 1 percent to trade at 65,523.43, while, the NSE Nifty rose 184.70 points or 0.95 percent at 19,628.20.

Meanwhile, the BSE Midcap index was up 0.6 percent and Smallcap index gained 1 percent. All the sectoral indices are trading in the green with metal, information technology, and realty up 1-3 percent.

The top gainers were JSW Steel, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies and Axis Bank.

Power Grid, Nestle, Sun Pharma, Britannia Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra and Asian Paints were the losers.

Hindalco Industries, Tech Mahindra, ONGC, LTIMindtree and Eicher Motors are among the top gainers on the Nifty.

Equity markets were closed on Tuesday on the occasion of Diwali Balipratipada.
