We accept people’s mandate with humility: PM Narendra Modi
New Delhi: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lost power in key states of Hindi heartlands, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted the people’s mandate with humility.
Modi’s statement came after assembly elections results in five states–Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram–showed that the BJP has lost power in their strong holds.
The saffron party has been unseated in key states like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. It had been in power in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for 15 years and in Rajasthan for five years.
In a series of tweets, the PM thanked the voters and said the BJP governments had worked hard.
We accept the people’s mandate with humility.
I thank the people of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for giving us the opportunity to serve these states. The BJP Governments in these states worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people.

The family of BJP Karyakartas worked day and night for the state elections. I salute them for their hardwork.
Victory and defeat are an integral part of life.
Today’s results will further our resolve to serve people and work even harder for the development of India.
