Bhawanipatna: A 30-year-old youth from Kalahandi district in Odisha allegedly tried to commit suicide after India had lost the ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday.
Sambharu Bhoi, a resident of Singhabadi village under Golamunda block in the district, consumed poison after the Men-in-Blue were defeated by 18 runs in a thrilling contest at Manchester.
Bhoi was found lying in an unconscious state at a farmland in the village. He was rushed to the Dharmagarh sub-divisional hospital in a critical condition.
Later, the youth was shifted to the district headquarters hospital here as his condition was deteriorated. He was reportedly stable when the news was filed.

India were bowled out at 221 in 49.3 overs in the rain-interrupted match while chasing the victory target of 240.
