Google Pixel devices might soon get some new features in the form of Adaptive touch sensitivity. According to the latest report by Android Police, the Google Pixel phones might be bringing onboard a new feature known as Adaptive Touch Sensitivity. The Android Police found a string of codes in the new Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 release and this showed that a new adaptive touch feature was in works.
The new feature i.e. adaptive touch lets the phone automatically adjust touch sensitivity to your environment, activities and screen protector. Well, the Pixel 8 series already offers the feature where it can detect a screen protector. The system detects whether there is a screen protector on your smartphone or not and prompts to boost touch sensitivity. However, it seems that the adoptive feature will offer something extra.
The new strings of codes do not elaborate on what environmental factors or activities will enable the touch sensitivity. However, it is assumed that the environmental factors we are talking about is rain or cold. For example, if it is quite chilly outside and you are trying to use your device while wearing gloves, the device will boost the sensitivity on it. On the other hand, if it is a rainy day, the device will lower the sensitivity on the smartphone so that accidental touches due to extra humidity or rain can be avoided.
Many Android devices offer dedicated “glove mode” or “screen protector mode” and that can be enabled from the touch sensitivity in the settings.
Speaking about the new Adaptive touch sensitivity, we expect that after the feature goes live there will be a toggle that will be added to the Settings app under Display> Touch sensitivity. Well, we do not have any idea which Pixel devices will get this update but we can bet that the Pixel 8 series will definitely get an update.
