Samaleshwari Express halts in Odisha after technical glitch

Koraput: Bringing more trouble for rail commuters, the Samaleshwari Express today halted near Kotpad Station in Koraput district due to a technical glitch.

The incident took place this morning while the jam-packed train was en-route to Howrah from Jagadalpur. Some staffs of the train witnessed the technical issue and informed the authorities who ordered for the halt.

The train was halted between Kotpad and Kusumi following the order. Later, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) rushed the spot to take stock of the situation.

A repairing work is currently underway and the train will be allowed to take its course of journey once the same is completed, informed a Railway Department official.

Worth mentioning, at least three Railway employees were killed and four passengers hurt when the 18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleshwari Express train caught fire and derailed after the train collided head-on with a track-maintenance train in Odisha’s Rayagada district last Tuesday.
