According to reports, the teachers, who are agitating under the banner of Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum, decided to join duty for the betterment of the future of the students.

However, some of them will continue the agitation on rotation basis in Bhubaneswar while those who will take classes at schools will wear black badges until their demands are fulfilled by the state government.

They also have decided to organise a 12-hour strike on October 2 in front of district collectorates. Later, all teachers will gather at Mahatma Gandhi Marg for a ‘Shiksha Bachao, Odisha Banchao’ samavesh on October 9.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the teachers are on agitation since August 16 seeking benefits of 7th pay commission, service condition and job regularisation among others under the new Grant-in-Aid (GIA) system.

Time and again they had several meetings with the School and Mass Education Minister and Finance Minister of the state, but in vain.
