Maoists torch vehicles, put up banner at country liquor factory in Koraput

Jeyepore: Suspected members of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group set at least three vehicle to fire and put up a banner at a liquor production unit in Pottangi area of Koraput district last night.

The attack took place late in the night with the involvement of a group of armed Maoists who barged into the unit and resorted to vandalising the property post threatening the staff.

Issuing warning to close down the liquor unit immediately they torched a four-wheeler and two bikes parked inside it.

Before leaving the spot they hung a red banner with messages written in white ink to the main gate of the unit premise. However, the banner didn’t bear the name of any Maoist Committee or signatory.

Police had not reached the spot till the filing of this report.
