Mamita Meher murder case: Govinda Sahu taken to recreate crime scene

Bhubaneswar: The Balangir Police, who has taken the prime accused of Mamita Meher murder case Govinda Sahu on five-day remand, took him to the crime spot for scene recreation early this morning. The accused showed the demo of crime scene in presence of Uttaranchal DIG and Kalahandi SP in between 4 am to 4.30 am today.

Earlier on Thursday, Govinda Sahu’s driver Radhe was arrested while the JCB driver Pushkar Bhoi and his colleague Munsi Gupteswar Tandi became the State witness. Adding to it, Uttaranchal DIG and Balangir SP had arrived at Kalahandi’s Mahalinga mini stadium for ground investigation to ascertain more details at the crime spot.

On the other hand, the prime accused Govinda was also taken to five day remand after he confessed on Wednesday about the pre-planned murder of Mamita. He confessed that he burnt and buried her body in a pit at the stadium in order to destroy evidence.

It is to be noted that Mamita was aware of his extra marital affair due to which Govinda had a grudge against her and in order to take revenge, he decided to eliminate her, the Northern Range DIG had informed in a press meet on Wednesday. In a fit of rage, Govinda pre-planned her murder and killed Mamita inside a Wagon R car while they were en-route to Kegaon from Bhawanipatna on October 8. Thereafter, he burned the body using card board and tyres in a previously dug pit at the mini stadium and covered it the next day morning.

The police on Tuesday arrested most wanted Govinda Sahu, who had escaped from custody after he was detained based on a complaint by his family regarding Mamita’s missing case. He was nabbed from Budhipadar village under Bangamunda block in Balangir.
