Kendrapara: A fisherman went missing in Mahanadi river in Mahakalpada block of Kendrapara district last night after a boat carrying at least four persons sank midwater.
The missing person has been identified as Tapan Das of Jambu area of the district and owner of the capsized boat.
As per the report, Tapan was accompanying three others in his village in the boat when it got trapped in a whirlpool at the river mouth and capsized. While all three accompanying Tapan swam to the shore and saved their lives post the mishap, he got swept away by the prevailing current in the river.
While fire services personnel rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and launched rescue operation, the victim remained missing till last reports came in.
