Berhampur: In a rain-related casualty a 10-month-old boy was killed and four others in his family sustained injuries in a wall collapse incident in Bajraguma village under Digapahandi block in Ganjam district last night.
As per the report, the deceased identified as the son of one Santosh Kumar Nayak was fast asleep along with other members in his family late last night when a weakened portion of wall caved in and fell on them.
While the baby sustained critical injuries in the mishap along with four others and remained trapped under the rubbles, he was later shifted to a nearby hospital to be declared dead.
Post the mishap local BDO and Tehsildar rushed to the spot and carried out an investigation.
Notably, incessant rain kept lashing Ganjam district for last two days and has triggered a number of wall collapse incidents.
