Fire Services DG BK Sharma gets appointed as DGP-in-charge of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: BK Sharma, Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence DG, has been approved to be appointed as the new DGP-in-charge of Odisha by the Election Commission of India.

Mr Sharma gets the additional responsibility as the incumbent DGP RP Sharma went on a grievance leave as his wife Tushar Sharma’s untimely death at a private hospital in New Delhi.

DGP RP Sharma’s wife Tushar Sharma was suffering from pneumonia for a past couple of days. She succumbed under treatment at around 4 am in the wee hours of Sunday.

With model code of conduct in effect due to the upcoming elections, the state government had recommended three DG rank holders’ names to the Election Commission of India. DG BK Sharma got the final nod.

Odisha goes into the election in four phases with the first phase beginning from April 11.
