Drug and Loot: Youth robbed off valuables at Balasore Railway Station

Balasore: In an incident putting a question mark on the safety and security of rail passengers, some unidentified co-travellers robbed a youth off all his valuables after drugging him at Balasore Railway Station on Friday.

The victim youth has been identified as Ghanshyam Giri of Khalamuhani village under Baliapal block of the same district. He was working in a private firm in Mumbai and was returning home when the incident took place.

As per the railway officials, the GRP personnel found Ghanshaym in an inebriated condition soon after an express train’s halt at the station. They immediately rushed him to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

After returning to normal following treatment at the DHH the youth claimed that some unidentified co-passengers drugged him by offering biscuits to eat a few minutes before reaching Jaleswar. After he fell unconscious they robbed his wallet, ATM cards and mobile phone to alight him at Balasore station.

Railway Police is investigating into the incident.
