Kandhamal: A tribal couple was electrocuted to death in Kandhamal district on Wednesday after coming in contact with a live wire while trying to pluck mangoes from a tree.
The deceased have been identified as Dasarath Bhukta (50) and his wife Sarojini Bhukta (45). They are residents of Bandhagarh village under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district.
As per reports, the duo were plucking mangoes from a road-side tree with a stick. However, Sarojini came in contact with a live wire and Dasarath was also electrocuted while trying to save her. Both of them were killed on the spot.
Meanwhile, police reached the spot and seized the bodies which have been sent for autopsy. A pall of gloom has descended over the entire area after the incident.
