City builder arrested for grabbing Lord Lingaraj’s property

Bhubaneswar: Intensifying action against those involved in grabbing Lord Lingaraj’s endowment, the Economic Offence Wing (EoW) of Odisha Police’s Crime Branch today arrested the Managing Director of a city based real estate company.

The arrested builder has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Mishra, MD, Sampad Builders Pvt Ltd. He has been accused of grabbing Lord Lingaraj’s land through forged documents.

EOW initiated action against Mishra basing on a complaint filed by Abanikant Mohanty, OAS-I (JB), Executive Officer, Lord Lingaraj Temple Office in Bhubaneswar.

As per the complaint, a mauza Basuaghai under Bhubaneswar Tehsil was recorded in the name of Lord Lingaraj by Brundaban Mahapatra and Durga Charan Mahapatra, who had died since long. One Kedarnath Mahapatra, who happens to be the adopted son of late Durga Charan Mahapatra had executed two general power of attorneys in 2002 and 2004 to sell the properties to Mishra.

Mishra had later sold the land to at least seven customers, suppressing the fact, in connivance with Kedarnath.

While Kedarnath had been arrested on April 7 this year, police took Mishra into custody today and forwarded him to Bhubaneswar SDJM Court.
