Chunk of concrete comes off Brahmani bridge in Rourkela, traffic affected

Rourkela: Commuters were left in a state of panic after a chunk of concrete came off the Brahamani bridge in Rourkela during the busy hours of the day today.

The incident resulted in a grinding halt of traffic flow on the National Highway-143 and hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on either side of it.

The administration took immediate steps following an information on the incident and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was intimated about the issue.

NHAI officials have reached the spot and started repairing work at the collapsed portion of the bridge by placing iron plates on it. That apart, the area has been cordoned off to carry out further repairing work.

One platoon of police force has also been deployed to manage traffic chaos which is still prevailing on the bridge.
