51 High School Girls Test Positive For Covid In Odisha

Sundargarh: Covid seems to be spreading its tentacles yet again in various educational institutions across Odisha.

As many as 51 students have tested positive for the deadly Covid virus in a high school in Sundargarh district of Odisha.

According to reports, as many as 51 students of various high school classes such as: Standard 8, Standard 9 and Standard 10 in Girl’s High School in Sundargarh have tested positive for Covid19.

The headmistress of the school however informed that, the high school will remain shut for a week.

She further added that already instructions have been issued for the closure of the educational institution for a week as per the protocol.

It is noteworthy that earlier today, as many as 22 students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in Sambalpur district have tested positive of Covid-19.

Reportedly, all the Covid-19 positive are students of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) first year of VIMSAR, Burla.

The students were found developing symptoms of Covid-19 post the annual function at VIMSAR following which they have been kept under isolation in the Covid ward of the hospital and their health condition is being constantly monitored.

The RT-PCR test of the students will be conducted today. The contact tracing of all the 22 MBBS students is underway. The college authorities have initiated the sanitization procedure in order to curb the coronavirus infection.

The exam VIMSAR’s MBBS students was earlier slated to be conducted offline which is now under reconsideration.
