How does elephant sleep? This is a popular query. As we enquired about this many people were of the opinion that it sleeps while remain stood.
Yet, a recent post by IFS officer Susanta Nanda on a social media platform provides the convincing answer. Even in the caption the expert clarified that this is common as we see that the pachyderm is lying on the ground.
IFS Nanda, who is very much popular for his wildlife videos on X platform, shared two photos today on his X handle about this. The caption reads, “It’s nothing unusual. Common for the herd to rests & this is the way they sleep. The tusker is very much part of the group & enjoying his slumber. Recent photos.”

In one of the photos that Nanda has shared we can see that a tusker is lying on the ground. According to the X user this giant animal is sleeping.
In the other photo we can witness a herd of elephants. Some of them are standing while a few of them are lying on the ground.
