Two killed in elephant attack in Angul, locals stage road blockade

At least two persons were killed after being attacked by an elephant at Saradhapur village in Odisha’s Angul district today.

Angul: At least two persons were killed after being attacked by an elephant at Saradhapur village in Odisha’s Angul district today.

The deceased have been identified as Guru Nayak of Saradhapur village and Ainthu Pradhan of Chheliapada village.

Tension prevailed in the locality as some irate locals staged a road blockade and demanded adequate compensation for the family members of the deceased persons.

On being informed, a team of local forest officials and police rushed to the village and held a discussion with them. The angry locals agreed to withdraw the protest after the forest officials assured to look into the matter and provide the compensation.

Later, the bodies were sent to the hospital for postmortem and an investigation was initiated.
