Odisha’s Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences receives commendations in Parliament

During the introduction of the Bill for the establishment of the Telangana Central Tribal University, KISS was lauded for its global recognition in providing free education for tribal students.

New Delhi: The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Odisha has garnered widespread praise in the Parliament. Known as the world’s largest tribal institute, KISS received high commendations from various Members of Parliament (MPs) on Thursday.

During the introduction of the Bill for the establishment of the Telangana Central Tribal University, KISS was lauded for its global recognition in providing free education for tribal students. MPs across political affiliations, including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chandra Shekhar Sahu, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, expressed their appreciation for KISS’s exceptional efforts in tribal education.

Founded by renowned educationist and philanthropist Dr. Achyuta Samanta, KISS has revolutionized tribal education by implementing comprehensive reforms and fostering development. Notably, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had also praised KISS and Dr. Samanta in 2019 following his visit to the institution. Similarly, in 2017, Dr. Virendra Kumar, MP from Madhya Pradesh, had commended KISS during a Parliamentary session.

In response to the overwhelming support, Dr. Achyuta Samanta expressed his gratitude to the Union Education Minister and the members of the Parliament for recognizing the valuable contributions of KISS as the world’s largest tribal institution.
