There is no power shortage in Odisha: Energy Minister
We are trying our best to provide uninterrupted electricity, reassured the Minister in a press interaction earlier today.
Bhubaneswar: There is no shortage of power supply in Odisha, informed the Energy Minister Pratap Deb on Monday.
Especially in Bhubaneswar area, every time there is a trip in power supply, it takes six to seven hours to fix it. And in crowded villages, this takes a little longer. We are trying our best to provide uninterrupted electricity, reassured the Minister in a press interaction earlier today.
“Where there is a disruption in power supply due to reasons such as the tearing of electricity supply wires, the burning out of transformers, etc. and the electricity department is not responding even after repeated calls from the locals, action shall be taken ,” he said.
The Energy Minister further informed, ” We have called all the officials and have warned them about the repercussions. To be clear, the complaints about low voltage are technical errors. Where the sub-station is at a distance and there is an overload in the transformer, there low voltage will occur for sure.”
“In the peak period, the state of Odisha needs 5,600 megawatts of electricity, whereas last year it was 5,500 megawatts,” he further added
It is worth mentioning that, earlier this year on 12 April, the Minister had informed that there would be no power cuts in Odisha this year.
