Speculation rife about Pandian contesting 2024 election either from Ganjam or Kendrapara

Bhubaneswar: Odisha politics has started to heat up as speculations are on the rife about ex-bureaucrat VK Pandian contesting the forthcoming general election in the state.

Pandian, who has been appointment as the chairman of both the 5T (Transformational Initiative) and Nabin Odisha following his resignation as IAS officer, is expected to contest the election either from Ganjam or Kendrapara districts.

Speculation of Pandian’s entry into politics grew up after senior BJD leader and party’s Ganjam district president Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik said that VK Pandian will win if he contests from any of the 13 seats in Ganjam as the people of the district love him. He (Pandian) had done many developmental work as the district collector between 2027 and 20211. His contribution was so immense that Ganjam was twice awarded the best performing district in MGNREGS at the national level by the then Prime Minister during his tenure.

Kendrapara district is assumed to be the other place from where Pandian might contest the election. Kendrapara district is his father-in-law’s district. During his visit to the district, the people of the district treated him as their own son-in-law.

Besides, he had informed the people that Kendrapara was the focus of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik during his visit to Japan. He also informed them that Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India has proposed to set up a 24 MTPA integrated steel plant in Mahakalapada block in the district against an investment of Rs 1.02 lakh crore.

However, only time will say either Pandian will join the politics or not and will contest the 2024 election either from Ganjam or Kendrapara.
