Shiva temple in Balasore of Odisha looted, probe underway

Jaleswar: A temple of lord Shiva has been looted in Balasore district of Odisha. The ornaments of the god have been stolen, said reports.

The thieves have allegedly broken the lock of the Shiva temple. The miscreants broke into the Shiva temple and looted cash from the donation box along with the Gods idols and furniture.

The robbery took place late last night from the Shiva temple in Bagpunji village under Jaleswar police station in Balasore district. The thieves have looted money, gold, silver crowns and various other ornaments from the temple said sources.

However this morning, the villagers saw that the lock had been broken and informed the temple’s worshipers first. Later, the worshiper came to the temple and found the lock broken and immediately informed the Jaleswar police. The Jaleswar police reached the spot after receiving the news and started investigation into the matter.

Thieves have looted all the gold ornaments and furniture, 20 kilo copper snakes, and mics and speakers from the temple. However, the worshiper said that items worth more than two lakh rupees were stolen. In April, a temple of goddess Chandi has been looted in Balasore district of Odisha. The ornaments of the goddess have been stolen.

The thieves have allegedly broken the lock of the Chandi temple in Kutari village under Simulia police station limits. The thieves looted money, gold, silver crowns and various other ornaments from the temple said sources.
