Ratan Tata shares the motivation behind launching Tata Nano, Know the reason here
Ratan Tata is perhaps one of the most loved and respected Industrialists from India. Ratan Tata is not only a successful Industrialist but also a philanthropist in the truest sense and it has been proved from time to time. Recently, Ratan Tata shared the motivation behind manufacturing the most affordable car ‘Tata Nano’ through his official Instagram handle. The post which was uploaded on Thursday on Instagram has become viral and received more than 1 million likes in just two days.
In the Instagram post, Ratan Tata can be seen posing near a Tata Nano along with a sea of media persons surrounding him.
“What really motivated me, and sparked a desire to produce such a vehicle, was constantly seeing Indian families on scooters, maybe the child sandwiched between the mother and father, riding to wherever they were going, often on slippery roads,” said Ratan Tata in his post.
“One of the benefits of being in the School of Architecture, it had taught me to doodle when I was free. At first, we were trying to figure out how to make two-wheelers safer, the doodles became four wheels, no windows, no doors, just a basic dune buggy. But I finally decided it should be a car. The Nano, was always meant for all our people,” added Ratan.

The Tata Nano was launched way back in 2008 and it was a revolutionary incident in the automobile industry. The purpose of building a Nano car by Tata was to provide a car to the buyers who could afford to purchase a two-wheeler. After nearly 14 years since its (Tata Nano) launch, the Tata Group’s chairman emeritus shared this nostalgic memory.

The Tata Nano was launched with a price tag of Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) in 2008. However, the car was discontinued in 2018 due to low sales. It is important to mention that the Nano has been a part of many households in India and the owners take pride in having one.
Tata Motors has recently launched the Nexon EV Max SUV in India. The prices start from Rs 17.74 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.24 lakh. The Nexon EV Max is claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 437km. It comes with a large 40.5kWh battery pack. The new SUV has also got new additional features compared to the standard Nexon EV.
