Puri Srimandir Reforms: SC appoints former Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar as new Amicus Curiae

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday appointed former Solicitor General of India Ranjit Kumar as new Amicus Curiae to oversee reform measures at Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri.

A three-member bench comprising Justice AK Shikri, Justice MA Shah and Justice Abdul Nazir of the top court appointed the new Amicus Curiae while hearing a PIL filed by the Cuttack-based lawyer Mrinalini Padhi on various reforms of Puri Srimandir.

The development came after former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramanium who was appointed as the Amicus Curiae to assist the temple management in implementing reform measures resigned from his post on November 30 last year.
