Paper-laden truck falls into 200-ft deep gorge in Khallikote, Driver and helper narrowly escape

Khallikote: In a shocking incident, a paper-laden truck fell into 200 feet deep gorge in Khallikote of Odisha’s Ganjam district. The incident occurred on National Highway Number 16 in Haridamula ghati of the district. Fortunately, driver and helper of the truck narrowly escaped death.

According to sources, the truck was en route from Telangana to Khurda when the accident occurred. However, the reason behind the incident is not known yet. It is suspected that the truck lost control and fell into the gorge.

After receiving information about the incident, fire service personnel and police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter. Further detailed reports related to the matter are awaited.

In a similar instance today, at least 20 people were injured after a bus overturned after falling from a bridge in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. The incident occurred near a river bride under Balikuda police limits of the district.

According to sources, the bus carrying over 20 people including 10 women and 7 children was en route from a marriage function in Dhanurbelari to Budhisahi of Balikuda. The injured were immediately rescued and were rushed to the nearby hospital.
