Power outage during President’s address: IDCO responsible, alleges VC

President Droupadi Murmu, who was on a three-day visit to her home district, was addressing the gathering on the 12th convocation day of the University. In the meantime, the auditorium went into darkness for nine minutes between 11.56 AM and 12.05 PM.

Bhubaneswar: In the matter of the power outage during President Droupadi Murmu’s address at the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University (MSCB) in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of MSCB University Santosh Kumar Tripathy submitted a report to Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal. In the report, Das reportedly put the blame on IDCO for the said fiasco.

As per reports, in the report given to the Governor, it was said that the unfortunate incident took place because the staff members of IDCO (Who were engaged for the said work) could not reach the electric panel Board on time. As many as 8 staff members of IDCO and 4 staff of TPNODL had been issued entry passes. However, during the power outage none of these staff members were present in the auditorium, the report said.

Ahead of the function, the responsibility of the Auditorium had been given to IDCO from May 4, but due to their negligence, it happened.

The report also said that the District Administration and Police are responsible for this. He said that during the function only Stage and Podium responsibilities were with the University Authority while the rest the other responsibilities lay on the District Administration.

On the other hand, the three-member committee of the University that had been formed to probe the case will submit the report today.
