Malkangiri: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal traders in the district, police seized a truck laden with 8 quintal ganja and arrested two peddlers by conducting a raid in Podaghat area here this morning.
The held peddlers have been identified as the truck driver Dipak Sahoo and helper Biswaranjan Sahoo.
The success came to Mudulipada Police after it got a tip-off on the presence of an onion-laden truck carrying a ganja consignment discreetly last night and acted upon it.
After intercepting the truck on the State Highway, the cops conducted a search of it and seized a number of packs containing around 8.12 quintal of ganja.
The seized drug would cost over 40 lakh, said Mudulipada police.
Peddlers were sending the ganja consignment to Raipur of neighbouring Chhattisgarh State via Chitrakonda area of the district, it added.
