New Delhi: After four days of marathon interrogation over suspected terror link, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) allowed Odisha’s Akhtar Hussain Khan to go home freely today.

Hussain, who belongs to Samantarapur slum under Kisan Nagar police limits in Cuttack, had been summoned by the NIA to its headquarters in the national capital for questioning in connection with his links with arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Shaikh Abdul Nayeem.

Notably, the LeT terrorist Nayeem belonging to Maharashtra was arrested from Lucknow on November 27 and he had allegedly entered into monetary transactions with Akhtar.

Speaking to Kalinga TV, Hussain said, “I was questioned along with Nayeem alias Sohail, who told the investigation agency that I am innocent. He once visited Odisha as Sohail and gave me Rs 30000, and in return, I handed over a cheque of the same amount to him. I have no other relation to him.”

“I reiterate that I am a true Hindustani and I have faith in the judiciary system of the country. I am no way related to any terrorist or terror group,” he added.

Hussein has been staying at a rented house in the outskirt of Cuttack for the past four years prior to which he was in Saudi Arabia for over 15 years. He came here on December 2 along with his 18-year-old son.
