Bhubaneswar: Odisha to witness medium scale flood in Mahanadi river system, informs Engineer In Chief (Water Resources) Bhakta Ranjan Mohanty.

Around 9 to 9.5 lakh cusecs of flood water likely to pass in river Mahanadi at Mundali by this evening. As it is peak time, tonight is crucial for us. Floodwater to reach Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Puri tomorrow. Therefore, focus is being given to low-lying areas of these 3 districts, informs Bhakta Ranjan Mohanty.

There is no information regarding breach in river embankment till now. Senior officers have been sent to the field to take stock of the situation.

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) have asked the collectors to stay on alert and of Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada districts to take precautionary measures and guard weak embankments.
