Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Sulochana Das scripted history by becoming the first woman Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.
According to the data shared by the State election commission, Sulochana Das got 174562 and won the election with a margin of over 61,000 votes.
Likewise, BJP’s Suniti Mund got 1,13,419 votes while Congress candidate Madhusmita Acharya got just 11,006 votes.
With Sulochana’s victory, BJD has won the Mayor seats in two Municipal Corporations – Bhubaneswar and Berhampur. Earlier, Sanghamitra Dalei became the Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC).
The State ruling party is also all set to win the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) as its candidate Subhash Singh is leading with 44,094 votes from his close contender till the 37th round of the counting.

Please streamline garbage lifting in the city. Parts of Bhubaneswar looks like a garbage dump.
Please stop unauthorised hawking on pavements meant for walking.
Please stop roadside vegetable/ fish& meat sale on main thoroughfares. This disrupts traffic. You may like to think of having ward markets and completely stop unauthorised hawking on roads.
Please adress repair of roads and proper street lighting.
Please visit and interact with citizens on a regular basis.

1. Pathetic internal roads within Bhubaneswar,needs the kind attention of Mayor.
2. Poor drainage system,
3. Restrictation of stray animal movement on toad.
4. Traffic and parking menance needs to be within the scan zone.
Let us all pray that the new Mayor Mrs.Sulochana Das emerges out successful in dealing with these issues which previous Mayors ignored delebrlerately.
If we have the will power, we can make Bhubaneswar City a “Green City” also by creating with few artificial lakes to boost city tourism. This will also help in boosting revenue from tourism.

Mrs Sulochana Das , new Mayor of Bhubaneswar is applauded as woman power . We expect her direct supervision and action for development of Bhubaneswar city to be free from garbage , mosquitoes . Roads , sewerage, drinking water , lighting in all internal streets of all wards and removal of unethical heavy collection of parking
fees at every place like in market places , hospitals and any place wherever a citizen needs to park the vehicles. Bmc is collecting holding tax but again collecting parking fees . There must be some rationale in every collection.
We expect convenience of stay and living in a city branded as smart City ,without any sort of facilities of that standards to the citizens .
Mayor madam to look into and act without being biased and carried away by the so called sychophants and lot of chamchas who will go on shadowing her for their personal gains and Vendetta.
