Odisha monsoon update: Heavy rainfall anticipated, orange warning issued to 7 districts

Odisha monsoon to intensify in the coming days. A low pressure over the Bay of Bengal to cause heavy rainfall on July 18 and 19.

Bhubaneswar: In recent update on Odisha monsoon, the Meteorological department has issued Orange warning to seven districts. These districts include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Koraput, and Nabrangpur. These districts are likely to experience rainfall ranging from 7cm to 20cm.

Furthermore, a yellow warning has been issued to 13 other districts in anticipation of moderate to heavy rainfall. Forecasts have suggested the formation of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal on July 18. This is likely to cause heavy rainfall in several areas across the state on July 19.

In the past 24 hours, Bhadrak has reportedly received the highest amount of rainfall of 165 mm. So far, the state has experienced a deficit in rainfall of about 28 percent. While Devgarh has so far reported the highest amount of rainfall this monsoon season, Kalahandi as reported the lowest.
