Bhubaneswar: The high temperatures in August has broken a 126-year-old record with no respite from the heat for the next 5 days, said reports on Friday.
The second highest temperature ever has been recorded in Puri since. There will be no respite from the heat and humidity for the next five days. The heat in the has been felt due to the weakening of the monsoon.
According to the information of local weather office in Bhubaneswar, the temperature is hovering somewhere around more than 5 degrees above normal.
The MeT center has also informed that even if it rains, the heat wave will continue. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued an yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning for the next three days over different districts of Odisha.
In the last 24 hours, Puri has recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. This is the second highest temperature after the 126-year all-time record of 36.8 degrees, according to the Meteorological Center. 35.8°C degree was recorded on 4 August 2018 which was the second highest.
