Monsoon in Odisha: Cyclonic circulation to develop over Bay of Bengal by Sept 29

Odisha monsoon: Weather forecasts predict the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal by September 29.

Bhubaneswar: The retreat of Southwest monsoon has commenced in India. Monsoon winds have retreated from the Western and southern areas of Rajasthan. Typically, India sees the withdrawal of monsoon by September 17. The process has begun with an eight day delay, this year.

This year, the onset of monsoon was recorded on July 2. The process of monsoon retreat has begun after a period of 85 days. However, the retreat of monsoon winds from Odisha has not been ascertained yet. Generally monsoon in Odisha retreats by October 15.

Weather forecasts predict the development of a cyclonic circulation by September 29. The circulation is to develop over the Northern Andaman sea adjoining the East-Central Bay of Bengal. The circulation is expected to develop into a low pressure area. It is further expected to intensify into a depression.

Monsoon in Odisha is likely to retreat thereafter. The ongoing monsoon season in Odisha has recorded an average amount of rainfall in state.
