Modern radar in Bhubaneswar to predict floods, cyclone and other natural disasters

Bhubaneswar: Modern radar in Bhubaneswar will be installed for accurate predictions on flood, cyclone and other natural disasters. The information shall be available well in advance.

The radar in Bhubaneswar will provide the latest information on natural disasters for Cuttack-Bhubaneswar. Advance flood warning system will be implemented by 2025. This information was given by Indian Meteorological Department DG Mrityunjay Mohapatra. 

Similarly, by the end of this year, the Doppler radar will be operational in Balasore and Sambalpur. Half of the work on the Doppler radar in Balasore has been completed and the equipment has arrived in Sambalpur.

Similarly, another radar will also be established in Bhubaneswar. While Odisha is always facing natural calamities, Odisha is located in the prime location of the weather station. “We are going to do more in the state by taking advance information about storms and floods,” said IMD DG Mrityunjay Mohapatra.
