Berhampur: Armed miscreants looted cash and gold ornaments from the house of a retired bank official in Bijay Vihar area under Sadar police limits late last night. Miscreants allegedly decamped with gold ornaments weighing 100 grams and cash of Rs 15000.
The miscreants also assaulted the victim M Kanaka Raju with sharp-edged weapon when he resisted them. Raju has been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Police said that miscreants broke through the window and barged into the house. Later they ransacked an almirah and decamped with the valuables. Police have started an investigation after registering a case.
