Balasore: Tension ran high in Bangurupada village under Simulia police limits in Balasore district today as body of an unidentified woman was found floating in a canal in the area.
The incident came to light after some locals spotted the body this morning with salwar-kameez on her body. They immediately called up police to inform the matter.
Police rushed to the spot and carried out preliminary investigation with the help of scientific team after fishing out the body from water.
While the body has been sent to a nearby hospital for autopsy and the report is awaited, police suspect it to be a case of murder taking into account the fatal injury mark spotted on the neck of the deceased.
