Man critical as throat gets slit with kite thread in Cuttack

Cuttack: A man has been injured due to kite thread in Cuttack district of Odisha. His neck was cut due to the manja in the thread. Today, one person was injured due to a manja thread in Kathajodi area of Cuttack.
The injured has been identified as Akshay Mohapatra, he was a resident of Cuttack. According to the Information available Akshay was traveling from Cuttack Kalyan Nagar to Bhubaneswar when the thread got entangled around his neck.
There was a deep cut on the throat and he was bleeding. He was immediately rescued and admitted to the hospital.
Police have imposed a ban on the use of kites with Chinese ‘manja’ and plastic strings while celebrating the Makar Sankranti tomorrow and warned stringent action against those who would use such kites.
It is to be noted here that there is a tradition of flying kites on Makar Sankranti and people use different types of kites. Some people even use the kites with manja and plastic strings which pose thereat to especially commuters on roads and birds in the sky.
