Balangir: A man was axed to death by his elder brother over a petty quarrel in Beherensilet village under Kantabanji police limits in Balangir district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Debaram Majhi of the same locality.
As per the report, Debaram’s elder brother Sarat had called him for a discussion over some issue late in the evening. During the discussion, a heated exchange of words took place between the duo and in a fit of rage Sarat took out an axe and hacked his younger brother mercilessly before fleeing from the spot.
Family members rushed Debaram to Kantabanji hospital in a critical condition to be declared brought dead.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the murder and started an investigation to trace the absconding accused.
